FAQ’s

Below are some of the Frequently Asked Questions about the work Medicals that we provide. If you do not find the answer to your question here, please use the contact form to ask your question.

What do I need to bring?

Valid photo ID which includes driving license, passport discharge book etc, must be in date and have correct address on it if shown. No medical will be undertaken without valid ID. Previous ENG1 certificate if held as this will be retained on provision of new one. Glasses if worn and ability to have vision checked with and without lenses if worn. A list of any medication if taken and recent blood results (last 3 months) if under regular follow-up with your GP or hospital specialist. For ML5, HGV and PSV and diving medicals you will need to bring the appropriate paperwork with you for completion.

What about the Chester Step Test?

If this is needed, please make sure you wear loose clothing and trainers as it is rather difficult to do in overalls and work boots!

What about chaperones?

Some medicals require the candidate to be examined in their underwear. For female applicants it is also possible to carry out if you wear shorts and a vest top under your normal clothes or we can provide a gown, and a female chaperone is always available if wanted.

Intimate examinations

None of the medicals undertaken require any form of intimate examination ( e.g. breast, genital, or rectal examination)

How do I pay?

Payment is made on the day by the applicant unless this has been arranged prior with me and the employer. Receipts are always provided whether paying by card or cash. (No cheques)

What if I can’t make it?

It is very important that you let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to make an appointment. As the only provider of some of these medicals for the Suffolk area they are in high demand, and we wish to avoid wasted time and delay for others. Any appointment not cancelled 24hr prior will result in a 50% additional charge if re-booked.

What if I fail my medical?

In all cases of failure or restriction of a medical this will be explained fully to you at the time.

Will I get my certificate on the day?

In most cases, yes? In some cases, further information might be required from your GP, specialist, or employer. We always try to keep any delay to a minimum.
