When attending a medical
For all medicals it is essential that you bring original valid photo ID (passport, driving license, discharge book etc) glasses if worn and if contacts the ability to test vision both with and without correction. Details of registered GP or OMA. A list of any prescription medication if taken. For D4, ML5 and diving medicals please make sure you bring the proper approved paperwork.
Payment to be made by applicant at time of the medical, receipts always provided. Failure to attend a booked medical without 24hr prior notice will result in a 50% additional fee being charged on re-booking.

Medicals Provided
Offshore Energies UK, Oil and Gas Medical including hearing test £180
Dr Coleman has been approved to undertake OE UK medicals in accordance with the Offshore Energies UK guidelines. A successful applicant will be provided with a certificate of fitness in accordance with the OE UK guidelines. Standard certificates are for a 2 year duration but in certain circumstances there may me reason to issue a restricted certificate or time limited certificate following discussion with an Operator Medical Advisor.
These require a D4 medical prior to obtaining a provisional licence. Job roles would include, lorry drivers, coach drivers, crane operators, vehicles from 7.5 tonne, FLT drivers, builders and LGV renewals. Medicals are required prior to driving, at the age of 45, every 5 years until 65 then annually thereafter.
Taxi Driver Medicals
Hackney Carriage and Private hire medicals for those making a first application and for renewals. It is always wise to check with your local authority before booking as some require this medical to be completed by the applicants own GP. You must always make sure you have the appropriate paperwork with you for your local authority.
Dr Coleman is approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to undertake the ENG 1 medical for seafarers in accordance with the Maritime Labour Convention (Medical Certification) Regulations 2010 along with the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) convention. Medical standards are dictated by the MSN 1839 (M+F) standards of Medical Fitness for Seafarers. Certificates can be issues up to a maximum duration of 2 years but in certain circumstances certificates may result in shorter durations and operational restrictions.
ML5 medicals are required for those applying for, revalidating or changing the MCA Boat masters licence or certificate or for those applying for a Royal Yacht Association (RYA) commercial endorsement for work on code vessels as detailed on the application form. They are often required for fishermen on small fishing vessels operating in near coastal waters and for those working as crew on inland waterways.
As an approved doctor for OE UK I am approved to undertake RUK Renewables land based and offshore wind turbine medicals. These medicals assess the suitability of an applicant to work within this safety critical environment against a set of defined standards. This assessment includes a Chester Step test along with the other standard medical assessments. Certificates are valid for 2 years unless identified medical conditions require a time limited certificate. As this medical involves a Chester step test it is always sensible to wear loose clothing and training shoes.
